Hey everyone! I want to share a fun and exciting chapter from my journey diary as I step into high school next semester. It all started when I got an email from my school about the FBLA BOOST program. Honestly, I had no idea what it was all about, and at first, I wasn’t too interested because coding is my passion. But after chatting with my parents, they convinced me that giving business a shot was a cool idea.
Joining FBLA BOOST turned out to be an amazing adventure. I met new friends, awesome teachers, and even a real investor who shared tips about the business world. One of the most memorable parts was the minicon event—imagine swapping your usual hoodie for a sharp business suit and performing like a real business professional! It was all so unexpected and exhilarating.
I learned so many practical skills that you don’t get from coding alone—like how to shake hands confidently and pitch a business idea with passion. On February 21, during the minicon event, my team and I spent three intense hours developing a project that competed with a real business. We took on a challenge inspired by Amazon, but with a tech twist, and guess what? We won first place!
Winning felt even more surreal when we got the chance to present our project to a real venture from Y Combinator. The thrill of standing before such influential figures and sharing our innovative ideas was unforgettable. It made every moment of hard work totally worth it.
Reflecting on this journey, I’ve realized that stepping out of your comfort zone is key. While coding sharpens your hard skills, experiences like FBLA BOOST teach you the soft skills—teamwork, communication, and leadership—that are just as essential in the real world. A huge thank you to all the teachers, seniors, and the incubator team who put their heart into making FBLA BOOST such a fantastic experience. It’s clear now that exploring different paths can open doors to opportunities you never imagined. Taking a shot at the business world has been one of the most rewarding detours in my journey.
